KiCAD Projects: DC-to-DC (Boost Converter) Split Rail Power Supply Based on XL6009
To make a split rail power supply from a dc-to-dc boost converter, I used a charge-pump circuit to generate positive and negative rail.
The PCB design is focused on GND return from the input and output section, the focus is on how to make it as short as possible.
This is based on a boost converter PCB layout design related article:
- Five Steps to a Good PCB Layout of a Boost Converter
- How to Design a Boost Converter or Voltage Regulator in PCB Layouts
- PCB layouts for buck, boost, SEPIC power stages
This DC-to-DC (boost converter) split rail power supply useful to handle many electronics projects with battery operation. XL6009 was chosen because this IC is widely available in the market and the price is also quite affordable.
From the video above you can see how PCB layout design flow in KiCAD, so I hope it can be helpful to others who are in learning KiCAD like me ^^
