KiCAD Project: Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 (CM4) Base Carrier

KiCAD Project: Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 (CM4) Base Carrier

Simple Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 carrier board. It powers the module via the USB-C connector (only power, no data), USB client mode (no host mode), Qwiic/Stemma connector for I2C lines, SPI, UART, and power/activity LEDs.

Please feel free to modify this design for your own needs. This PCB is not intended to be a finished product, but rather a demonstration to get people started making their CM4 carrier boards.

Please keep in mind that the USB traces were calculated for a 2-layer board with a 1.6mm height.

Carrier Board Template

Carrier Board Template

ShawnHymel created a KiCad template (schematic and PCB layout) for a basic board that connects to the Raspberry Pi CM4 to assist you in getting started with your carrier board.

This project includes a copy of the CM4IO libraries (schematic and footprint) as well as a basic CM4 footprint to get you started.

It's worth noting that the board edge matches the CM4's silkscreen outline. Move the outline (Edge.Cuts layer) to any shape or size you want (so long as you can still mount the CM4 to your board).

There are no headers or pins broken out in the template; it is simply a starting point for your project.
